At Pathway, we maintain a 1:3 teacher-to-student ratio, giving every child focused, personalised support throughout each class. We also share class photos with parents, so you can stay connected with your child’s creative journey.

We only take a maximum of 6 students per class, creating a focused and supportive space where every child can be seen and encouraged.

At Pathway, every programme and project is carefully designed for each stage of a student’s creative development. Our goal is to provide a clear learning pathway that builds not only artistic skills, but also hands-on ability, independent thinking, creativity and visual awareness—skills that can support students in future creative studies and industries.

Explore — Younger Students
We encourage younger students to explore a wide range of materials and ways of making. Through painting, drawing, sculpture, craft and mixed media, they develop coordination, confidence and creative interests. We introduce real art foundations—including colour theory, perspective, painting techniques, shading and value—through fun, age-appropriate projects.

Build — Intermediate Students
As students progress, projects become more challenging and structured. They strengthen their foundations through character development, 3D form, advanced perspective, composition and artist studies, while learning to think more independently about their creative decisions.

Develop — Ages 13+
After building strong foundations, older students can begin developing their own creative direction. They explore areas that interest them in greater depth, such as 2D animation, advanced painting, watercolour, digital art and design, preparing them for further creative study and future pathways.

Our teachers have either studied and worked in the art and design industry or hold a recognised New Zealand teaching qualification, bringing professional experience, knowledge and passion into every class.

Professional Materials Included

All class fees include materials. We provide high-quality, professional-grade art supplies, giving students the opportunity to learn and create with the same types of tools and materials used by practising artists and designers.

Connected With Families

We believe a student’s creative journey is something worth sharing. We stay closely connected with parents, providing regular updates and sharing their child’s progress, experiences and achievements along the way. We also support multilingual learning, helping students from different language and cultural backgrounds feel comfortable, understood and included.

Encouraging Independent & Original Thinking

At Pathway, we don’t alter students’ work or make creative decisions for them. Instead, we teach techniques, guide brainstorming, offer constructive suggestions, and help them with research while allowing students to make their own creative choices.

This approach helps students develop confidence, independence and original thinking, encouraging them to find their own creative voice rather than simply following instructions.
